Special school tours for Omaha area students in grades 3-4 are conducted each year by members of the Douglas County Extension Agency. Approximately 2,000 children a year experience this outstanding educational event . Tour guides discuss agriculture and how it affects everyoneís lives. The tour lasts 2 to 3 hours and go through a variety of education sessions and hands on experience. This program is a terrific opportunity to obtain a mini-lesson in agriculture. School Chronicles are available for area 3rd & 4th grade teachers. The Chronicle covers the vast history of Omaha and the state of Nebraska along with ARCR information and is a great teaching resource tool. Each year 35,000 are distributed to the school systems.
Each year 50,000 book covers depicting agriculture scenes and information are distributed to school age children throughout the area free of charge.
ARCR also donates hundreds of agricultural reading books for elementary age students to schools throughout the area each year.
